There’s no time where it’s not a good idea to turn to God. Whether or not you feel dirty, whether or not you feel wicked, whether or not you feel a failure, whether or not you feel irresponsible, whether or not you feel brain-exploding cognitive dissonance, it does not matter, whether or not you feel beautiful and pure and holy. All of those times, wherever you are, is the time to remember that you have Heavenly Parents who love you and to get—I was going to say get down on your knees, but it doesn’t matter—curl up in the fetal position, whatever you need to do, to turn to God and say, “Be with me” (quoting McArthur Krishna, pg. 16).
And for me, part of what it means to be all in is to be willing to go to the Lord in honesty, when we are struggling with things, and to invite him into the process, trusting fully—as fully as we can at any given moment—that He is fair, that He is all-knowing, that He is all-loving and kind, [and] that He absolutely has our best interests at heart. That He’s not just withholding something from us out of meanness, spite, or judgment; but sometimes when he’s holding something back, it’s because the wrestle is part of our growth” (quoting Wendy Ulrich, pg. 22).
