I was not surprised to hear of the kindness of Fred Rogers while reading this book. Fred was a man who treated others with respect and individual care. After meeting the writer Tim Madigan (who comes to Pittsburgh for an interview), Fred becomes a good friend to him and an avid supporter. Besides detailing the friendship between Tim and Fred, this book is also about Tim coming to terms with his father and reconciling with his brother.

Here are a few great lines from Fred, included in the book:

I’m convinced fewer and fewer can escape major suffering in this life. The Kingdom of God is for the broken-hearted.  Join the club, we are not in control: God is. (pg. 4)

You can choose to let this bother you or let this be an adventure and welcome the challenge. (pg. 44)

The whole idea is to look at the television camera and present as much love as you possibly could to a person who needs it. (pg. 155)
