In Memory of a wonderful person and a dear friend, Joan Poole. She had an enormous heart and was inclusive of everyone. I don't know how she did it, but she served a multitude of individuals and families concurrently.  She stepped in and helped without a formal assignment.  She loved life, was full of energy and very on top of things. One of her greatest gifts was the love she had for people and the way she cheered them on and supported them, and I always felt that from her.
Who had the most organized family night lesson schedule and files? Who did I call when my youngest needed to be taken to Primary Children's Hospital for dehydration and I wondered what to do with our other four children?  Who crocheted dish cloths for me of the strongest quality? Who brought gifts over for my new grandchildren before they were even born? Who volunteered in the Draper Temple laundry room weekly for over ten years? Joan.  She went about doing good and touched many, many lives.
I will miss her dearly.  She was an example and mentor to me. This quote from her funeral program is an appropriate description of her quiet acts of kindness:

Sometimes the greatest love is not found in the dramatic scenes that poets and writers immortalize.  Often, the greatest manifestations of love are the simple acts of kindness and caring we extend to those we meet along the path of life.
