Boyd Matheson wrote an article titled "Commit to the Power of Being Present," and I needed to hear what he wrote.

Focus precedes success in any endeavor. The ability to focus on the task at hand and stay with it to the end is critical to achievement in life, relationships and business.

One of my favorite sayings I learned in Japan simply says, “Be Here Now!”

We have learned to hurry inappropriately. (Quoting Dr. Larry Dossey)

Read no texts, check no social media, respond to no email or react to no electronic device in company, but when there is a necessity for the doing of it, you must ask leave.

I am working on this and there is definitely room for improvement.  When I am at my Dad's helping him I need to give him attention and make him feel valued.  When I am at church I there to worship and I should purposefully block out other distractions.  When I am at home working on a project I need to fully engage and stay with it, without leaving the task to do something else more desirable, and when I am talking with someone I need to give them full attention.
