In Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis, he writes,
"It is funny how mortals always picture us putting things into their minds: in reality our best work is done by keeping things out."
I've thought about this lately.
Sometimes I have to look back on my life to recognize something.
I realize that the last three months as I have been diligently reading the Book of Mormon daily, I have had less desire to sin, less bad thoughts, more charitable thoughts and inclinations, and an increased sensitivity to the Spirit.
I have not been perfect and I have had to apologize and repent repeatedly for things I said or did, but I have noticed a difference.
I don't dare stop reading daily because I don't want to slip backwards!
I have a testimony that reading the Book of Mormon keeps good thoughts in your mind.
There is a power that comes into our lives as we read that book, a spiritual power that has been promised us from the prophets.
Some blessings are noticeable and some are imperceptible, but nonetheless they are real.
