Yesterday I had the privilege of hearing three young men speak.  Two have just returned from missions and one is leaving soon on a mission.  Here are some of the truths they testified of:

Chase--Chase loved the new culture, the people of Taiwan, and the language, but what he loved the most was growing closer to the Savior.   All the people that Chase interacted with were his brothers and sisters and he tried to treat them with kindness. The Lord gives us power to become what we are to be.  Chase challenged us to do an act of kindness each day.  The love you feel for the Lord affects your choices.  Chase explained that as he grew closer to the Lord he grew to love the people more.  "The gospel has become such a joy to me."

Parker--The talks at the beginning and the end of the mission do not represent all you learn each day on your mission.  We are all living personal missions right now.  Listen to what the spirit is trying to tell you.  Remember and record impressions.  A mission helps you to learn things you would not any other way.  A mission taught Parker the value of opposition.  Missions are work and you are stretched.  Do we face opposition with positivity?  Trust in God and in His agenda.  Accept that God is going to make your plans better. Is you motivation to become better based on pride?  Parker learned the value of small things.  You will not see life changing events every day of your mission. Find joy in the small things.

Gabe--(Gabe was given the topic of Self Reliance) Use your time wisely.  Figure out each and every day how to spend your time.  Learn how to work.  You're going to need to know how to work and how to work hard.  Figure out how to solve problems on your own.  Learn to adjust.  We need our own experiences.  Figure out what you believe.  Go on a journey to build yourself.  Become resilient.  Depend on yourself.  Have self introspection.  Seek learning opportunities.  Somewhere out there is a family with space in their heart that Gabe can fill.  Gabe wants to bring happiness to people in Brazil.
