I did it! I set a goal to memorize this proclamation and in June I finished. I thought it would be helpful to me to have it memorized and ready to recall as I studied sociology, and it was, but it has also been wonderful to have the words in my head as gospel topics are discussed at church or when I am reading something on my own. I like knowing the definite stand and parameters that the Brethren have set. It is powerful and comforting to know how the Lord feels about families, about gender, about our roles as husbands and wives, fathers and mothers. The words of the proclamation are very clear to me. I have been strengthened repeatedly by these teachings.
