At the April 2017 General Conference Elder Quentin Cook said, "I believe that weekly participation in sacred sacrament meetings has spiritual implications we do not fully understand."

There are things that we do that are significant in protecting us against the power of the adversary.  I believe that going to church every Sunday, partaking of the sacrament, and renewing covenants with God adds to one's spiritual power.  When an individual goes to the temple, works on family history, reads the scriptures or general conference talks, prays, serves, listens to uplifting music, shares a testimony, nurtures, or engages in a calling, spiritual power is being added.  Also, there are other discreet things like choosing to be happy on a hard day, enduring with faith, working on a personal goal, or hanging on when things are tough that add power and strength.

Today I read about Moroni instructing the Nephites to remember the Lord their God and to build large fortresses around their cities.  Because the Nephites prepared and protected themselves, they were safe.  We can do the same.  By our actions day-by-day, we are building spiritual fortresses.
