Sometimes daily tasks have underlying meaning to me. For example...

I have been painting doors in my garage the past couple weeks.  I have finished 13 and I have 6 more to do, plus trim and baseboards.  As I brush the paint on, the look is not complete and I still see faint signs of the past color, but with a second coat, the new white color is complete.  All blemishes and old paint are hidden and the door looks as good as new.  Such is life for me.  My efforts represent the first coat, or me trying to cover the natural man, and the second coat is the Savior's grace in my life.  He fills in all of my flaws and cracks and makes the door look clean and new.

I do not mind ironing because I take a piece of clothing that is wrinkled and with heat and pressure I iron the wrinkles out and the clothing item looks crisp and fresh.  That is what attending my Sunday meetings does for me!  I sometimes go to church feeling wrinkled and tired (spiritually) and the testimony and teachings of others, plus the taking of the sacrament irons and presses me and I am new and refreshed.

Another job that has underlying meaning is working in the yard.  Can you spot some "dead heads" that I need to break off?  It doesn't matter how much time I spend in May planting, the garden always needs attention.  This is symbolic of the attention I must constantly give to my testimony. I must weed out the bad and nourish the good.
