David is a life-size marble sculpture by Gian Lorenzo Bernini. The subject of the work is the biblical David, about to throw the stone that will bring down Goliath.
There are other sculptures called "David", but I love this one by Bernini because of the movement and exertion that David exhibits. Look at the determination on David's face! Look at his furrowed brow and pursed lips. I like that Bernini has caught him in "the moment"--the moment right before he throws the stone. To think that at age 24, Bernini carved this out of stone is amazing to me!
