One of the best things I have done this year is memorize "The Living Christ". Last January my mother started memorizing it as an assignment from her Relief Society President, and so to help my mother, I began memorizing it too. I have tender memories of saying the first few paragraphs together with her and going over and over the words. After my mother passed away, I continued to memorize the document, a paragraph at a time. The words became my own and I recited them with conviction . My testimony has grown as I have repeated the lines, day after day. Here are a few lines from "The Living Christ" that I love:
He was the creator of the earth...He went about doing good yet was despised for it...He walked the roads of Palestine healing the sick, causing the blind to see, and raising the dead....He instituted the sacrament as a reminder of His great, atoning sacrifice...He gave His life to atone for the sins of all mankind..."I am the first and the last, I am he who liveth, I am he who was slain, I am your advocate with the Father"...We testify that He will someday return to earth...He is the great King Immanuel who stands today at the right hand of His Father...He is the light, the life, and the hope of this world...His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come...God be thanked for the matchless gift of His divine Son.
