I know that Christ stands at the head of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  I believe that there is an important work being done here on earth and that the important work of saving souls also is happening in the spirit world.  Christ directs the work here on earth through prophets.  Prophets and apostles are called of God and I sustain and support them.  I feel safe following their counsel. Here are some things that I read today that strengthened me:

Pray for the authorities of the Church, and then sustain them in every labor and in all that they undertake to do. (Heber J. Grant)

The men who occupy positions in our day as apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ have been endowed with the spirit of the living God. (Heber J. Grant)

You will always be blessed and benefitted in following the advice and counsel of those whom God has chosen to preside over the Church.  By honoring the man God has chosen, God will honor and bless you. (Heber J. Grant)

We sing and have done so constantly, "We thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet to guide us in these latter days."  There are a great many who..put a postscript to that and say:  "Provided he guides us to suit our own fancies and our own whims."  I know that the path of safety for the Latter-day Saints is not only to sing, "We thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet, to guide us in these latter days," but to be ready and willing and anxious to be guided. (Heber J. Grant)

Keep in mind that the head of this church is not the President of the Church.  The head of this church is the Lord and Master, Jesus Christ.  (Harold B. Lee)

Never would He permit one in this position to lead this church astray.  You can be sure of that. (Harold B. Lee)

We don't have to depend solely upon what is in the standard Church works. In addition to what the scriptures have told us, we have what the prophets today are telling us here and now, and it is for us if we want to be saved on Zion's hill, when these perils come, to hear and obey. (Harold B. Lee)

There will be some things that take patience and faith.  You may not like what comes from the authority of the Church.  It may contradict your political views.  It may contradict your social views. It may interfere with some of your social life.  But if you listen to these things, as if from the mouth of the Lord Himself, with patience and faith, the promise is that "the gates of hell shall not prevail against you." (Harold B. Lee)

God has led this Church from the beginning, by prophets and inspired men.  He will lead this Church until the scene is wound up. (Wilford Woodruff)

The Lord has never sent judgments upon any generation which we have any knowledge of until he has raised up prophets and inspired men to warn the inhabitants of the earth. (Wilford Woodruff)

The Lord will never permit me or any other man who stands as President of this Church to lead you astray.  It is not in the programme.  It is not in the mind of God.  If I were to attempt that, the Lord would remove me out of m place.  (Wilford Woodruff)

In as much as we have faith to believe in their instructions, in the teachings of the Holy Spirit through them, we are always in the safe path, and shall be sure of our reward. (Wilford Woodruff)
