Favorite passages from the Sunday School Reading Assignment this week:

All scriptures is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned.  Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them.  Keep thyself pure.  If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.  Deny ungodliness and worldly lusts.  We should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world.

And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life.  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. I have fought a good fight.  I have finished my course.  I have kept the faith.  The Lord stood with me and strengthened me.

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, that man Christ Jesus.  Who gave himself a ransom for all.  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

These scriptures are all from 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, and Titus.  Aren't the writings of Paul magnificent?  I have loved reading the New Testament Sunday School reading assignments.

  1. I love these passages, too, so I named one of my boys Timothy as a reminder!
