Let me tell you about this little potted plant. It was given to us as a gift about six months ago. After looking beautiful for a few weeks, it drooped, lost it's flower and leaves, and looked like it was finished. But I have a husband who is patient with plants and does not give up on them. The plant was saved, re-potted, put by a window where it would receive lots of warm sun, and watered regularly. After months of it just sitting there, all the while being cared for, we were surprised to see it bloom again, and the blooms are large and beautiful! This little plant reminds me of the closing lines form the poem, "The Touch of the Master's Hand"
Many a man with life out of tune
And battered and scarred with sin
Is auctioned cheap to the thoughtless crowd
Much like the old violin.
A mess of pottage, a glass of wine
A game and he travels on.
He's going once, he's going twice
He's going and almost gone.
But the Master comes and the foolish crowd
Never can quite understand
The worth of a soul and the change that is wrought
By the touch of the Master's hand.
(Myra Brooks Welch)
This little plant bloomed again--and to think I was about to throw it out! People can bloom again too.
