Henry Sorensen said:
We are not meant to suffer through life, but endure. There is a difference. Suffering denotes sitting. Enduring is action while waiting. Affliction is to make us wise, not
despondent. Trials help us to know who has come to deliver us. Afflictions come to the innocent. Trials come to those who do the Lord’s work. If we are not delivered the way we want to be
delivered—can we still remain faithful and follow Him?
Charity can become a way of life.

This is what I take from the Sunday School lesson
today: The Israelites wanted to be free
from the Egyptians, but when the Lord began to deliver them, things did not go
quickly or smoothly and their faith was weak and they said, “Forget it—we would
rather live in Egypt.” Moses 14:13,14
reads: “Fear ye not, stand still, and
see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you today. The Lord shall fight for you and ye shall
hold your peace.” Have faith! The Lord will come through for you.
Today in Sunday School, we talked about riches and
prosperity. I do not believe that riches
are inherently evil, but the love of them and the setting of one’s heart upon
them, and forgetting the Lord—those things are evil. Certainly one can be prosperous and humble,
though it is difficult. One can also be
poor and proud. Set your heart toward
the Lord, let your affections and focus be on Him and then you will be OK.
The questions posed in Relief Society was this: “How has the gift of the Holy Ghost blessed
your life?” I could not answer because
of emotion. What a tremendous blessing
the Holy Ghost is to me! It is such a
precious guide—holding me back in some ways and pushing me forward in other
ways. The Holy Ghost has softened and
refined me and helped me grow spiritually.
The temple heals.
You can find balm for your souls.
Are we not all a little deaf, blind, lame, and sick?
