This is one view of the mountains from my neighborhood.

One of my favorite things is to take walks and breathe the fresh air, look at the breathtaking mountains and the expansive sky and take the time to clear my mind.  Here are two quotes I read recently on walking:

The instincts of action are the favorite haunts of happiness.  To move, to creep, to stand, to walk, to run, to climb, to swim, at last to fly:  what strange delight there is in these natural expressions of our powers!  To be made whole one must stretch his legs and make friends with the sun.  Are you broken-hearted?  Go out for a four-mile tramp alone, and the spirits of the sky and the earth will heal you.  Legs were made for walking.
Will Durrant, The Mansions of Philosophy

I have often started off on a walk in the state called mad—mad in the sense of sore-headed, or mad with tedium or confusion.  I have set forth dull, null and even thoroughly discouraged.  But I never came back in such a frame of mind, and I never met a human being whose humor was not the better for a walk.  It is the sovereign remedy for the hot tempered and the low-spirited.

  1. I love these quotes and I love a good walk! It's the best therapy for me :)
