We have been planning a getaway for months--it was to be for the "girls" of the family without husbands or children. Just finding a few days that would work for all of the ladies was difficult, but the husbands were supportive and off we went.  We rented a house close to the beach and made maps of nearby sights and places to eat. We had a wonderful 36 hours together and then Hurricane Hilary, along with a tropical storm, began to approach the very area we were staying in. Warnings were issued, neighbors were placing sandbags and boarding up windows, flights were cancelled or delayed, and we awoke and held a council. Given all of the facts and warnings, and the chance of being stranded and not being able to make it home for a few days, we decided to end the trip early, rent cars and drive home. It was disappointing and sad! We did not want to have to end our trip early, but we are so grateful for the time we had together, and we are grateful that each of us made it home safely. We fit a lot into our full day together. After we arrived home, I sent the girls this text:

"All of you deserve special recognition for being flexible, counseling together, handling disappointment, finding humor in a situation, solving an issue together, talking over options peacefully, caring about and supporting one another, and finding things to be grateful for."
