You may not be able to feel the power of these words via this blog, but when I listened to our Sacrament meeting, I felt power in Brother Jorgensen's words at the conclusion of his talk:
I have no idea exactly what a prophet is. I can't begin to understand the calling and the responsibility but I know these are holy men with a most holy calling.
There is no group of people on the face of the earth like our apostles and prophets. There are no people that I trust like I trust these men.
When I read "And lean not on thine own understanding," I kind of have to laugh. I don't have enough understanding to lean on. I don't even have enough to trip over. I realize that I understand very little.
I know that we all just made it through another week in mortality, but many people didn't. I spent yesterday at a mortuary with many families that said goodbye to loved ones. The truth is that we have no idea what the next day or the next week might bring. But this I do know, I trust the Lord. I trust the dear family he sent me to. I trust the personal experiences of my youth. I trust His promises. I trust the witness of the Holy Ghost when I was told so many years ago that God lives, that Jesus is the Christ, Joseph Smith is a prophet, and the Book of Mormon is true. I know that this is His church and it is guided by His living prophets.
