There is so much to think about!
I have been thinking about this past year and all that we have experienced. Amidst the trials were great blessings that cannot be overlooked. I learned many lessons in 2020 and I was definitely stretched to be more patient and flexible. I relied on God and the Savior when everything seemed unstable and frightening. There are some things and situations that occurred during the year that I cannot wait to leave behind, and other things I cherish and hope to keep.
And where do I go from here? What can I improve on? How can I change for the better in 2021?
Here are some things I have been reading that have helped me while formulating a plan:
What am I doing that I should stop doing? What am I not doing that I should start doing (Sister Craig)?
The Lord does not expect us to do more than we can do, but He does expect us to do what we can do, when we can do it (Brother Waddell).
Our covenantal assignment is to minister, to lift up the hands that hang down, to put struggling people on our backs or in our arms and carry them (Sister Eubank).
Take steps to by physically, spiritually, and emotionally prepared (President Nelson).
Create a home that is a place of security (President Nelson).
Rely more fully upon God and turn your heart to Him (Elder Ballard).
I urge you to redouble your commitment to prayer (Elder Ballard).
What do we need to improve in our lives spiritually, physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually (Elder Bednar)?
More deeply study the 2,200 references of the name of Jesus Christ listed in the Topical Guide (President Nelson).
Make a list of all the Lord has promised He will do for covenant Israel (President Nelson).
Am I doing enough? What else should I be doing (Elder Renlund)?
To be Christlike, a person loves mercy. People who love mercy are not judgmental; they manifest compassion for others, especially for those who are less fortunate; they are gracious, kind, and honorable. These individuals treat everyone with love and understanding, regardless of characteristics such as race, gender, religious orientation, sexual affiliation, socioeconomic status, and tribal, clan, or national differences. These are superseded by Christlike love (Elder Renlund).
Revelation comes while we are in the act of doing good (Elder Camargo).
Seek to be increasingly pure in thought, word, and deed. Minister to others. Keep an eternal perspective. Magnify your callings (President Nelson).
