This is one of my favorite pictures of 2019 and I will tell you why.

Our Relief Society had a service activity in March of this year where we worked on a number of projects, one of which involved fabric.  There were five bags of leftover fabric and one of the committee members asked me if the young women could use the fabric in some way.  I said sure, that I would figure something out.

Two young women in the ward were looking for a ten hour project (for Personal Progress) and I asked them if they would be interested in sewing quilts with the leftover fabric.  There were not many pieces of large fabric, which meant the smaller pieces had to be laid out and coordinated, cut, and then sewn together. The tops were matched to bottoms, batting was added, and the quilts were tied.  These two young women came over week after week for hours at a time and ended up putting in many more hours than ten! The five bags of material produced thirteen quilts. These two had never sewn before and they caught on quickly. They knocked on the door of a woman in the neighborhood who had recently had a baby and handed her a quilt.  Other new mothers were fortunate to also receive quilts.

Another young woman in the ward (pictured above on the left) went on a humanitarian trip with her parents, and she served for days helping in a variety of ways. This is a picture of her giving away one of the quilts the two other young women had made. I can't help but get a lump in my throat when I see this picture.  I love the young woman pictured above for her selfless service, and I love the two young women who made the quilt.
