Yesterday a man in the ward gave a talk in Sacrament meeting about service.  He told us his mother passed away from cancer when he was sixteen years old, leaving he and four other siblings still living at home.  The ward and neighborhood reached out in sympathy and kindness, but he remembers that after a couple of weeks the meals and attention subsided, except for the thoughtfulness of Sister Sargent.  Sister Sargent made something in her kitchen each week for the next year and brought it over to his house.  He still recalls how his heart felt broken and his stomach hollow, and the kindness of Sister Sargent filled him up. He explained that she was not a vivacious person, but that she quietly served his family when they really needed it.  She has since passed away and he wept as he told the audience how he was looking forward to seeing her someday and thanking her for her service.  Her kindness meant the world to him.
