In San Francisco there is a wonderful view of the city high on a hill called Grandview Park. One way of getting up to the viewpoint is by ascending dozens of steps, called the Moraga steps. The steps were artfully decorated in colorful tiles after over two-hundred neighbors contributed to the cost of supplies. Actually, it is not the flat step that was decorated, but the vertical rise leading up to each step. We happened to visit this spot when the sun hit the tiles in a vibrant and amazing way. What a surprising place to see art! I loved the steps and seeing what could be done to transform ordinary cement steps with thousands of little pieces of colorful tile.
