Today is a momentous occasion. Our son comes home from a mission to Guatemala. My mother passed away three years ago, then Logan left on a mission, then my brother passed away. Those three individuals have been away from me and I can't believe that one of them is coming back. I have been reading Psalms the past few days for an upcoming Sunday School lesson and certain sentences in Psalms portray my feelings succinctly.
"The Lord will hear when I call unto him." (He has heard me as I have prayed daily, to have our son watched over these past two years).
"I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart." (I praise the Lord for His plan of happiness, for families, and for the restored gospel).
"The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust. It is God that girdeth me with strength." (It is God and the Savior who strengthen and watch over missionaries, who give them the strength to do what is needed).
"Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name. Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks." (Today I feel gratitude to the Lord and humility as I welcome a son home).
