There are not dozens of young women in our ward, but the group is united and they are each so special. Tonight was New Beginnings. A Miamaid (the one in the center back with the jean coat) planned the evening for one of her ten hour projects. She chose the theme, put together the program (after studying the handbook and meeting with the YW President), worked on refreshments and decorations, followed up with the girls about their parts, and shared her testimony. One of the young women--the one on the far right--gave a thought about the value of Divine Nature. With her permission, I am sharing her message:
We are beloved spirit daughters of heavenly parents, and , as such, we have a divine nature and destiny. By divine design, we have unique gifts and talents that will help us fulfill our destiny as daughters of God. Knowing who we are gives our lives purpose and helps us make the right decisions.
Our divine nature has nothing to do with our personal accomplishments, the status we achieve, the number of marathons we run, or our popularity and self-esteem. Our divine nature comes from God. It was established in an existence that preceded our birth and will continue on into eternity.
In Psalms, Chapter 82, Verse 6, it says: "I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High."
I know that we are children of a loving Heavenly Father and I know that we can return to him someday. I also know that a portion of God's divinity is in each of our spirits and that as we turn to him we can understand our Divine Nature and have strength to do what we were sent to earth to do.
