What I learned from my brother's funeral and how I want to be different because of it:
1.  I learned that my brother reached out to a lot of people, more than I ever knew about.
2. Hal had a big heart and was generous.
3. Hal was sensitive and aware.
4.  Hal knew how to lift people and build them up.
5.  Hal saw more to people than they could sometimes see in themselves.
6.  Hal did not judge people.
7.  Hal did not just give talks about Christlike service, or write in his journal, though those things are good.  He acted out his beliefs and showed his children what he believed in by the way he treated others.
8.  Hal laughed a lot and made people smile.  He made even hard experiences fun.

I want to make sure I laugh everyday.  No situation is beyond laughter.  I need to find something each day to smile or laugh about.  My goal should be to lift others, to seek and be aware of those with needs, to be on the Lord's errand and be His voice and His hands.  I want to be tireless and constant in my efforts. I want people to know what I believe by watching the way I act.  I want to be more like my brother Hal.
