I have a brother who loves fine art.  Here are three paintings that he wanted me to go and see in person with him recently.  I love the paintings, especially the last one, and I delight that my brother likes art.

Details on the last painting:  Premier Chagrin by Daniel Ridgway Knight.
This sentimental painting of two young French peasant girls displays Knight's early 1860s Parisian training in depicting the human form.  He came home to enlist in the Union army, and in 1871 he went back to France never to return to America.  He embraced the theme of French peasants, a popular subject with both French and American painters, and won many awards abroad.
