How many people help to raise a child? Certainly the parents shoulder most of the responsibility, but there are many others that contribute. Grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, sisters, and brothers make up a family circle around each child. They teach, mentor, and influence the child. So do coaches, school teachers, primary teachers, scout leaders, young men leaders, Bishopric members, neighbors and friends. There are many that are in the sphere of influence for each child.
Today I am grateful for the many people that have helped us raise our children. You, and there are hundreds of you, taught our children things we could not, or your reinforced things that we had tried to teach. You helped to form and shape our children. You set positive examples for them. You talked to them and listened to them. You validated them and cheered them on. Some of you may have pointed out things to our children that they needed to improve on or repent of. You inspired them. Thank you.
