I want to share a few more Norman Rockwell paintings.
Norman Rockwell captures slices of life in America. He captures emotion and memorable moments. He was very conscientious and into the details of his paintings. He did not take shortcuts but was thorough in his preparation. He had people stand in as models, and he worked to get the lighting and coloring just right in his studio. He sometimes used people he knew to model for him. In the picture just above, his three sons are featured: one as the main subject with his back to us, one with the plaid shirt and wide open look, and one on the far left with the glasses. His wife is the main woman in the center with the golden sleeves. Norman Rockwell also painted himself into this picture. Do you know which one he is? (blue shirt and bow tie)
