Here are some things that I learned in 2015, in no particular order, and certainly not a complete list:
1. If I want/need to play Handel's Hallelujah Chorus on the piano, I must practice.
2. A day can be stretched and utilized in even better and more efficient ways than I had previously thought.
3. The Lord is a constant refuge and strength.
4. Praying about something for months and months brings one closer to the Lord.
5. Sometimes the answer to your prayers is not what you want to hear.
6. Faith means accepting the answer and going forward with faith, knowing that things will work out.
7. Pain, suffering, and disappointment happen to good people.
8. Agency is very important. The Lord will not take someone's agency away.
9. When someone is suffering, even nigh unto death, there can be a sweet and holy feeling in the room/home.
10. When you couple yourself with the Lord's grace and power, you can do amazing things!
11. Take the time to be grateful. Take the time to say thank you.
12. I can look for ways to lift others.
13. The world is so beautiful.
14. The seasons in Utah are marvelous.
15. There is much good in my husband. I am lucky to have him.
16. I love being a mother and grandmother.
17. The Lord knows me. I felt the Lord talking to me this past year through the scriptures, personal revelation, and through Conference talks.
18. I derive great joy from music.
19. I love having friends.
20. Trying new things is good for me.
21. Kids can catch on to the piano quickly.
22. Sometimes projects take a long time, but the finished product is worth it.
23. Family History brings a special spirit into my heart.
24. Flexibility (not touching your toes, but rather "going with the flow") can be learned. One can become better at being flexible. Let's hope so because I need to work at it.
25. There is nothing better than homemade granola and homemade hot fudge.
26. You can still feel very connected to a person after they have passed on.
27. No one notices if you mix a little rye flour into your homemade bread recipe.
28. The pots on my porch looked better this summer because I had a nursery plant them.
29. Spending time with extended family is strengthening.
30. The gift of the Holy Ghost is one of my most prized possessions.
31. Planning ahead brings great peace.
Here are some things that I want to continue doing in 2016:
--Memorize 10 minutes a day, every Monday through Friday
--Scriptures and prayer every day
--Read 30 minutes a day (scriptures not included) every Monday through Friday
--Ab exercises every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
--Exercise over 260 times
--Take college classes
--Visit my Dad often
--Work on family history
--Organize my personal files
--Clean and declutter
--Save money
--Listen to promptings
--Attend the temple
--Try new recipes
--Smile
--Sew/create
--Visit teach
--Read the Relief Society Manual
--Read the Ensign
--Laugh
Something that I have tried before and am going to try again:
Each night, as President Eyring suggested we do, I am going to reflect on the day in my journal, recording times when I have seen the Lord's hand and ways that others have blessed my life. This is a very good exercise for me and I need to do it.
