We sang this song at family night last night--Logan chose it and I don't think I have sung it for years. With the changing of the church meetings to the block format, we no longer have Sacrament Meeting in the evening, and so perhaps that is why we no longer sing it in church. I love this song! This hymn has special meaning to me because for years we used it in our family as our "wind down" song at the end of the day before kneeling for prayer. We tried to calm the active little bodies down while singing this song. I have memories of children wrestling around during this song, knowing that by the end of the second verse they needed to be in the prayer position. When I hear this song, I remember feelings of love, of warmth, of being together, of praying together, of the happiness found in that stage of life. I am wondering if this song brings back any memories for the children--I hope happy memories and not thoughts of parents firmly trying to calm them down.
