Last night at family night we talked about money management. We came up with a list of sound financial principles to live by:
1. Don't go into unnecessary debt.
2. Live within your means.
3. Use interest for you.
4. Pay tithing first.
5. Put money into savings. Pay yourself.
6. Be honest.
7. Distinguish needs and wants.
8. "Make it rain." Find ways to make money.
9. Budget and plan. Keep track of expenses.
10. Work hard.
11. Shop carefully.
12. Wear things out.
13. Find things to do that don't cost a lot of money.
14. Don't live on the future, banking on future bucks.
15. Enjoy it when you spend it.
16. Recognize that all you have is a gift from the Lord. Give credit to Him. 17. Be humble.
18. Learn to be happy and content in whatever state you are in.
19. Let your heart not be set on riches.
20. Why do you have riches? To help other people. Be generous.
I enjoyed the discussion.
