Have you ever noticed that if you are thinking about a certain gospel subject or question, that things seem to pop out at you about that subject? Someone will say something in a lesson or a talk, your scripture reading will include something about the subject, or you will read something somewhere else that triggers the subject yet again. That is the way it is with me this month. I am studying the subject of holiness--of becoming God-like, and everywhere I turn, there is something about that subject. I also have come to see that all truth is intertwined and gospel principles build upon one another, thus everything I hear or read will somehow relate. This morning in the September Ensign I read:
Simply performing and dutifully checking off all of the things on
our lengthy gospel "to do" list does not necessarily enable us
to receive His image in our countenance or bring about the
mighty change of heart. Our hearts--the sum total of our desires, affections, intentions, motives, and attitudes--define who we
are and determine what we will become.
