Last week I called myself on a mission.  I know, that sounds highly unusual, but I needed to do it.  Starting Monday, August 1st, I am on a "family history mission" to work a certain number of hours a week/month in order to get through the twelve boxes and bins of things I brought home from my father's house. All of the items are keepsakes of some sort and need to be sorted through. Some of the pictures in the boxes are already on FamilySearch, while other pictures need to be scanned and shared. Some handwritten documents need to be summarized and/or typed up.  Letters need to be read for lines of value. There are hundreds of letters and we cannot save them all, nor would they be of value to anyone because there is much written about the weather, items needed or purchased, and other sundry details. But once in awhile you find a line which includes a person's feelings, or their testimony, and I delight in sharing those lines with all interested ancestors.  I feel a responsibility to work on this project because I think there are several items that are only in these boxes, and are located nowhere else. What a blessing that I can easily share the items on FamilySearch and that I do not have to worry about making copies and mailing them out to relatives. I am blessed and guided as I do this work.  I can feel it.  There is a feeling that comes into my heart as I come to know these ancestors and learn about their lives. I am happy to do it. Back to work I go!
