It is a joy reading letters from missionaries.  Here are two excerpts from two letters we received from Elder B.J. Brockbank:

I am so grateful for my mission. I can't believe how many things I have learned and am learning right now. At the beginning of my mission, I was very obedient.... almost too obedient. Kinda like a pharisee. Now I realize that there is so much more to living the gospel than just exact, blind obedience ( although obedience is still essential ).  I have learned that Love is really what matters. I find it really interesting that when Jesus was asked how to obtain eternal life by a Doctor of the Law, he didn't respond, "well you have to keep this commandment, and this commandment, and be baptized, and  so on and so on", but rather he said that if we would Love God with all our Might, and love our Neighbor as ourself, that we would have eternal life. I have really come to realize on my mission that everything depends on your heart, and how much love you have for God and your fellowman. Once we have this kind of love, everything else falls into place and we will be obedient and keep the commandments because we WANT to. It is all about a change of heart, a change of nature.

When we are worthy and clean before God, everything else will fall into place. When we put God first, everything else will just work out somehow. When we "let virtue garnish our thoughts unceasingly" and strive to be worthy before God, we can be confident knowing that our conscience is clear and that God is pleased with our efforts.

I love you all,
